BOFAS Arthroscopy Courses:
Arthroscopy is an essential tool in modern-day Orthopaedics and forms part of the contemporary focus on minimally invasive techniques in surgery. This course offers focused instruction invaluable in the early years of consultant life and beyond, particularly when adopting new techniques.
The basic course is designed to develop and extend the knowledge and skills of training foot and ankle surgeons. Techniques of arthroscopic surgery of the joints, ligaments and tendons of the ankle and foot will be presented and demonstrated. Basic Skills covers the more common procedures which a foot and ankle surgeon would be likely to need. Delegates will be given ample time to develop their skills in each of the areas listed below using cadaver limbs. Questions and case presentations will be encouraged with an expert and interactive faculty.
The advanced course is focused on instruction, invaluable in the early years of consultant life and beyond and is particularly useful when adopting new and more advanced techniques, some of which will be performed during the course. This course is designed to develop and extend the knowledge and skills of established foot and ankle surgeons. Techniques of arthroscopic surgery of the joints, ligaments and tendons of the ankle and foot will be presented and demonstrated. Advanced Skills covers some more advanced and emerging techniques. Delegates will be given ample time to develop their skills in each of the areas listed below using cadaver limbs. Questions and case presentations will be encouraged with an expert and interactive faculty.
Typically the Basic courses cover topics including:
- Anterior ankle
- Posterior ankle
- Haglund’s surgery
- Sub-talar joint
- Arthroscopic Ankle fusion
- Sub-talar fusion
Typically the Advanced courses cover topics including:
- Arthroscopic lateral and medial ligament repair
- Endoscopic FHL transfer
- Small joint (1st MTP) arthroscopy
- Tendoscopy (Peroneal groove and Tibialis posterior)
- Tarsal coalition excision
- Talonavicular and Calcaneocuboid joint arthroscopy
